UI DESIGN
ELDEN
DESCRIPTION: Elden is a comprehensive app crafted to enhance the lives of senior citizens residing in living communities. Beyond its intuitive design, the app empowers users with a range of features, allowing them to set personalized reminders, stay informed about upcoming events, manage their prescriptions seamlessly, engage in meaningful conversations with fellow residents through a built-in chat feature, and effortlessly access a variety of other essential services—all within the convenient and user-friendly interface of the Elden app.
MY CHALLENGE: Designing an app experience that considers user-friendly design, accessibility, and adaptability.
RESEARCH
COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
Examining competing mobile apps provides a better understanding of what is currently lacking in terms of user experience. The three (as shown above) were the most similar in terms of structure and content.
Meetup — facilitates connecting with like-minded individuals both online and in person, enabling the creation of supportive friend groups to engage in shared hobbies, events, and discussions.
Notes: Needs to connect the community, but events will be an important element to incorporate.
Bumble For Friends (BFF) — the dedicated friendship app, stands out by fostering genuine connections through profile prompts and lifestyle badges, prioritizing kindness with a community centered around it, and ensuring trust and safety with features like Photo Verification, Reporting, and Blocking.
Notes: Directed towards younger generations, but in-app chat is an effective feature. Will have to keep accessibility in mind.
Livly — streamlines the move-in process, saving time and money with features like instant renter's insurance, a marketplace for movers and furniture, and continues to serve as a trusted home base for apartment needs, including rent payments, maintenance requests, package notifications, and exclusive offers for residents.
Notes: The marketplace and rent payment features may be less important for older generations, but the maintenance requests and package notifications would be great additions to an “all-in-one” type of app.
